I'm noticing a lot of websites say there are food items you can buy that you don't have to worry about buying organic.
These websites are using this type of angle to help you, the consumer, go green because we all want a healthy planet and are entitled to being healthy ourselves.
Its true that fruits and veggies like avocados and tomatoes might not need to be bought organic, if you're only thinking in reference to the pesticides they put ON the crops. But the problem is, that more and more farmers are switching to a different kind of pesticide that goes IN the crop by being bio-engineered into the seed through genetic modification. In short, GMOs. It may sound hard to believe, but there are men in white coats messing with your food in science labs far far away and this has been acceptable since 1994 when they first started selling them.
What's worse, is that its starting to be revealed that these GMOs were not tested long term for human consumption. And the people that are testing it now are finding that these GMOs cause cancer and other problems after long term consumption. Here is a article about some of those studies and how France dealt with it. If you want more information about India and other places, regarding GMOs, click here.
You may not feel this is of much concern, but when your body is being bombarded by toxins from many other sources along with your food, it is no wonder why American's health problems are increasing. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor, and get more informed. You do have the right to a healthy planet and a healthy body. But its not going to magically happen until you start taking action.
Proposition 37 was just voted down in California over the issues of labeling foods with GMOs. There are many sides to this and we should all be getting to know both so we can have a well formed opinion about the food industry in our country.
If these corporations feel there is no threat or harm to be caused by GMOs, why aren't they proud to put labels on their food stating this state-of-the-art biotechnology? Why aren't they winning awards for these discoveries of what they can do to our food? And so, my general feeling is that I'd like the food to be labeled, so even my daughter could tell the difference of what to eat and what not to eat. But until that happens, I'm sticking as close to organic foods as the labels themselves.
