Helpful alternative to calming down children

11/26/2013

Raising kids can be challenging to say the least.  In our high stress culture sometimes it seems impossible to get them to calm down.  I happened across this blog today that shows you how to get your children to calm down with her craft idea.  It seems fairly inexpensive and could be used with recycled plastic bottles to help with the reduction of waste.

Teaching children how to calm themselves can be a great tool for when they are older.  Children that know how to deal with their emotions grow to have a healthier mental state of mind and are able to cope with life better.  It's never to early to start preparing your child with tools to help them become healthy, stable adults, keeping in mind that the world is changing very quickly and they have a lot more mental and emotional stress to deal with than previous generations.

Check out the My Crazy Blessed Life article here.  And don't forget to check out her other glow-in-the-dark version too!  Below is a picture of the bottles she made.

Raising Healthy Kids and Voting with our dollars

Raising healthy kids means looking out for their spiritual, emotional, mental and physical well-being.  Not an easy task for two parents, let alone one.  But the good news is, that by finding solutions that promote health in one area, you are simultaneously promoting health in the others.  This can mean you might spend a little more on clothing that is higher quality and toxin-free, but that is less money at the doctor's office and on health insurance premiums.  What kid likes spending their afternoons at the doctors?

In this article, Greenpeace has found high levels of toxins in branded clothing favorites in America that are often imported from other countries like China.  These toxins get into our bodies through our skin, the largest organ of our body.  Consider the affects of these toxins on your children's health and start buying clothing that is organic.

Also, slowly switching over to organic and locally sold clothing will help our country by voting for businesses and corporations that support ethical marketing.  This provides your children and our planet with a better future as these companies gain more financial support while less ethical companies lose financial support and momentum.  Please do your part for your kids and our country and start making the switch today.

Raising compassionate kids

We often would like to have more compassion around us but accidentally create situations that are volatile because we did not learn what compassion looks, feels and acts like.  If this is happening in your life, start opening your mind to how you can become more compassionate with your kids.  Its okay to say you're wrong and often better to do so because kids then can learn to admit when they are wrong and that there are steps we can all take to become more compassionate, together.
